Jeff Haniewich Biography
Jeff Haniewich is an American meteorologist working at WSLS where he serves as a Chief Meteorologist and he can be seen forecasting the weather on weekdays at 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 p.m. He joined the WSLS team in October 2003.
The American Meteorological Society awarded Haniewich with the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in 2015. Prior to joining the WSLS team, he worked at WNCT in the Greenville/Washington/New Bern market in North Carolina. Cleveland, Ohio is Jeff’s native home and he set his mind on being a professional baseball player or a meteorologist from a young age. In addition, his interest in weather began after Hurricane Hugo struck in 1989.
In addition, he attended Elon College (now Elon University) in North Carolina where he graduated summa cum laude. He also studied at the University of North Carolina in Asheville where he graduated with a post-baccalaureate degree in atmospheric science. During his leisure time, he enjoys spending ample time with his family and friends and playing all sports precisely baseball and golf.
