Chris Porter is an American Director/Anchor working with WTLV, First Coast News in Jacksonville where he serves the station as a Sports Director. He has been working with the station since the month of May 2013.

Porter works with First Coast News where he serves the station as a Sports Director. He joined the First Coast News team after previously working with the station’s sister station WMAZ in Macon, Georgia. There, he was privileged to receive several accolades for his sports reporting and anchoring. The year 2008 saw the Georgia Association of Broadcasters honor him with a Merit Award for “Best Sports Story.”
Chris is a proud graduate of Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia where he graduated with a degree in Communication. Shortly before his graduation from FVSU in the month of May 2004, he accepted his first television job at WMAZ as a news assistant in December 2003. Later on, he quickly moved up the ranks becoming a video journalist, a general assignment reporter, and later working as a sports anchor in October 2006.
While in the Peach State, Central Georgians could count on Chris for high-energy, play-by-play action of the Atlanta Falcons, Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, local high school sports in Central Georgia, and local high school sports in Central Georgia. He knew at an early age that he always wanted to pursue a career in sports journalism. When growing up in a family of gifted athletes, he always had a hunger to be a part of the game.
He states that ironically, the athletic gene skipped him. He, therefore, decided his next best move was to become a sports journalist. Porter states that he is looking forward to enjoying the sunny beaches of the Florida coast and is thrilled to be a part of the First Coast family. Away from work, he loves spending time with his family, attending church, mentoring children, and hitting the gym.
