Colleen Mehlberg Biography
Colleen Mehlberg is an American meteorologist working for NEWSnet as a meteorologist since joining the station in 2019. Previously, she worked for WZTV in Nashville as a meteorologist for more than 2 years.

Mehlberg joined Iowa State University in 2010 when she finished her high school education. In 2014, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Meteorology and a Journalism minor. While in college, she participated in ISU AMS, Cy’s Eyes in the Skies TV, and Newswatch TV.

ABC5 TV
Mehlberg started off her career as a temporary meteorologist at ABC5 TV, in Des Moines, Iowa Area. She worked there from April 2014 to August 2014, together with other meteorologists during severe weather events to get information out to the public and appropriate personnel. She also presented the forecast on various multimedia platforms with severe weather coverage as needed. Mehlberg researched and recorded meteorological data daily from observing weather and attended functions and conferences to promote the station.
WPBN-TV
Mehlberg then worked as a meteorologist at WPBN-TV Sincaliir Broadcasting from August 2014 to March 2017. There, she was the station expert for forecasting lake effect snow and micro weather events for Northern Michigan with the unique influence of the Great Lakes. She also collaborated with 3 National Weather Service offices to prepare forecasts and streamline communication across the state.
Mehlberg was also the project lead in installing a computer graphics system for the station in order to present digital forecasts. She also conducted daily weather briefings to staff and various personnel and researched weather and local environmental data with their impact on the Great Lakes and reported on it. Mehlberg utilized computer models, satellites, radar, currents, and mathematics for forecasting all of Northern Michigan. She also participated in community outreach events to promote weather safety and awareness.
WZTV-Sinclair Broadcasting
Mehlberg worked at WZTV, in Nashville, Tennessee from 2017 to August 2019 as a meteorologist. There she analyzed and interpreted numerical weather data through the use of model output, radar, METAR, satellite, and sensors. She also prepared weather briefings and produced forecasts for the public both written and verbal.
Mehlberg also collaborated with fellow meteorologists, 5 local National Weather Service offices, emergency management, and the Department of Transportation to produce and streamline forecasts being sent out to the public along with improving communication strategies. She has taken part in community outreach events to promote weather safety and awareness and created daily promotional content for social media among other duties.

In 2019, Mehlberg joined Newsnet in Farmington, Michigan as a morning meteorologist. There she analyzes and interprets numerical weather data through the use of model output, radar, METAR, satellite, and sensors.
