Craig Loper Career

Loper works at WAVY where he served as a sports director and anchor. Eugene, Oregon is his native home, and while he was at the University of Oregon, he interned at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona, and at Fox Sports in Los Angeles. In both stations, he had the opportunity to learn what it’s like to work in a sports office, edit videos, write stories, and publish content on a number of platforms.

He attended the University of Oregon in June of 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. In addition, after he graduated, he worked at KVAL in Eugene for two years and while he was at the station, he covered Oregon and Oregon State athletics along with prep sports.

His most memorable time in Oregon was traveling with the Beaver football team for two seasons to a number of stadiums on the west coast covering games on Saturdays. After working at KVAL, he relocated to Los Angeles where he used his passion for health into a career as a personal trainer and health coach. In addition, he relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in September 2016, where he worked at WAFB-TV for over four years. While he worked at WAFB-TV, he covered prep sports, Southern University, the New Orleans Saints, and LSU.

Furthermore, he also recalls his time in the Pelican state where he was immersed in southern culture on a daily basis. While he was at WAFB in Omaha, Nebraska, he covered the Tiger’s run to the College World Series final for 13 days. He also worked in Oregon he worked for the NCAA Baseball Corvallis Regional for 12 days and the final NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

In addition, as he works at WAVY, he looks forward to all things the Hampton Roads area has to offer including lifestyle and sports. During his sparer time, he enjoys working out at the gym, food prepping, enjoying time with friends while having a good meal out to eat, watching documentaries, and watching movies.
