Delaney Wearden Biography

Delaney Wearden is an American Emmy award-winning Meteorologist working at WSLS where she serves as a weekday and weekend meteorologist. She joined the WSLS weather team in June 2019. 

Delaney Wearden Career

Wearden works for WSLS News serving the station as a Weekday and Weekend Meteorologist. She knew she wanted to be a meteorologist since she was a child. She earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology with a minor in broadcast meteorology from the University of Oklahoma in May 2017, graduating from one of the best meteorological programs in the country.

While she was on campus, she worked on the school’s broadcast, OU Nightly, during her time at OU, where she learned how to manage cameras, audio, and playback. In addition, she was hired as an operations technician at KOCO 5 News in Oklahoma City the summer before her senior year.

This gave her the opportunity to work behind the scenes with cameras, audio, and a teleprompter. This allowed her to witness what goes on behind the scenes at a news station and how hard meteorologists work on bad weather days.

Delaney began her professional career as a meteorologist in Amarillo, Texas, where she had firsthand experience with severe weather. Padfoot, her adorable little schnauzer named after a character from one of her favorite book series, Harry Potter, comes along on my major travels with her.
