Eric Johnson Biography

Eric Johnson is an American sports anchor and reporter working at WSLS 10 in Roanoke, Virginia where he serves as a weekend sports anchor and reporter a position he took up in May 2019. He joined the WSLS  team in June 2011, as an operating engineer.

Roanoke is his native home and he attended William Fleming High School where he graduated proudly. Later on, he joined Roanoke College where he majored in Communication Studies and graduated in 2015. While he was still at Roanoke College, he joined WSLS as a Master Control Operator in 2011. In the summer of 2012, he interned at the Salem-Times Register where he covered a number of stories such as the Mitt Romney rally in Salem.

Later in 2014, Johnson shifted to the news department and served as a photojournalist and editor till February 2016. He also served as a sports reporter at WSLS for three years till May 2019 when he was promoted to serving as the weekend sports anchor and reporter. During his leisure time, he can be found at Salem Red Sox or Washington Redskins games and spending ample time with his family and friends
