Justin McKee Biography
Justin McKee is an American Meteorologist known working for WSLS 10 where he broadcasted weather on 10 News Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6 to 8 a.m. McKee also filled in for other meteorologists during the week. He joined the WSLS weather team in February 2020 and left the station in February 2023. McKee now works for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality serving the team as an Air Quality Meteorologist. He undertook this role in the month of February 2023.

He became interested in Roanoke as a result of the beauty of the area, along with its forecast challenges. Justin was brought up in central North Carolina and while growing up, he experienced a wide variety of weather from summer heat waves to hurricanes to ice storms and winter snow.
He can recall January 2000, a snowstorm that made him gain interest in weather and made him decide to pursue it as a career. In 2010, he joined North Carolina State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 2014. In addition, he also completed a minor in environmental science during his time in Raleigh.
Later on, he interned at Time Warner Cable News which is currently known as Spectrum News and while he was there, he earned valuable work experience. In addition, he also worked alongside Chris Michaels as they were in the same class at NC State. Furthermore, he worked in Rochester, Minnesota at KTTC, and at WWAY in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Over the years, he has experienced a little bit of everything from blizzards to covering multiple hurricanes in coastal North Carolina to extreme cold in Minnesota. McKee particularly noted covering Hurricane Florence as he covered it for 8 and a half consecutive hours during the lead-up, height, and aftermath of the landfalling hurricane.
