Janelle Wang is an American Emmy-Award-Winning Anchor/Host/Reporter working for NBC Bay Area in San Francisco Bay Area. There, she serves the station as a Reporter and Evening News Anchor. She has been working with the station since July 2011.
Janelle Wang Career
Wang works with NBC Bay Area News where she serves the station as an Evening Anchor for the 5 pm and 5:30 pm weekday newscasts. There, she co-anchors the news alongside Jessica Aguirre and Raj Mathai. Asides from this, she also reports for NBC Bay Area News at 6 PM. Since joining the station, she has earned three Emmys for her coverage of the Valley Fire in Middletown, the North Bay Fires in Wine County, and the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland. Aside from this, she has also traveled to Sochi, Russia where she covered the Winter Olympics, and to Kansas City to cover the San Francisco Giants World Series victory.
Prior to joining NBC Bay Area, she had spent more than 8 years at KGO-TV ABC7 in San Francisco. There, she reported on a number of stories that range from the steroid scandal in professional sports to the deadly San Bruno gas fire. Asides from this, she has also covered the Scott Peterson murder trial where people as far away as South America and Europe read her daily trial notes from inside the courtroom.
In her time at KGO-TV, she was also hosting the afternoon talk show known as “The View from the Bay.”There, she hosted the show for its entire 4-year run. In the show, some of her guests included TV Host Oprah Winfrey, President Jimmy Carter, and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Her popularity and viewer appeal on the show is what landed her a guest co-hosting spot with Regis Philbin on “Live with Regis and Kelly.”
Away from work, she enjoys golfing with her family and hiking. Asides from that, she is an avid 49er and San Francisco Giants fan. She also loves spending time promoting cancer awareness and encouraging people to join the National Marrow Donor Registry.
