Jodi Long Biography
Jodi Long is an American former anchor and reporter known for having worked for 13 News as a weekday morning anchor for the Today in Iowa News newscast that airs from 4:30 am – 7 am. She joined 13 News in January 2013 and departed in October 2022. Before joining 13 News, she worked at WHO-TV. In her departure from 13 News, she stated that she left the TV news industry for a mission to help other mothers.
In 2005, she joined Ankeny High School where she graduated in 2009, with a diploma. Later on, she worked at the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul, Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media Communications in 2012.
While Jodi was in college, she interned with news teams at; KSTP in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and WCIA in Champaign, Illinois. She first interned at WHO-HD and while she was there, she gained an interest in journalism. For a number of semesters, she was also active in her campus TV station known as Eagle 7 News.
In addition, Long was the recipient of the Alliance for Women in Media Diamond Award Diversity Scholarship in 2012. She is also a member of the National Communication Association Honor Society: Lambda Phi Eta. Furthermore, Jodi has taken her journalism skills overseas, and in 2012, she traveled to Belize where she taught media seminars to local television and radio stations.
