John Sears is an American host and anchor/reporter working for 13 News as the weekend sports anchor and co-host of SoundOFF in Des Moines. He joined 13 News in July 2012, after previously working at KCRG in Cedar Rapids, Los Angelos.
The Des Moines area is his native home and John attended Dowling High School where he graduated with a diploma. Later on, he joined the University of Iowa where he earned a major in journalism and communications. He worked at KCRG in Cedar Rapids, Los Angeles as a sports reporter and anchor for almost 6 years before he joined 13 News.
Before joining KCRG, he worked at KMEG in Sioux City for a year and at KRCG in Jefferson City, Missouri. While he worked at KRCG, he got the opportunity to cover every high school team in the state of Iowa, in some sports. During his leisure time, he enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, playing golf, cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears, hanging out with friends and family, and going out to a good movie or comedy show.
