Throughout the campaign in 2016, Delano served as the first local TV reporter to interview Hillary Clinton when she won the Democratic nomination. Also, he interviewed Republican vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence several times. When the election ended, he interviewed President Trump when he visited Pittsburgh. Additionally, he received an invite to the White House where he interviewed members of President Trump’s Cabinet and senior staff. Moreover, he received an invite to join the President’s motorcade where he broadcasted the president’s visit to the Tree of Life Synagogue.

Delano had four one-on-one interviews with President Joe Biden during the 2020 presidential campaign and was the first local TV reporter to interview former President Donald Trump one-on-one. Also, he interviewed former Vice President Pence, members of the Trump family, and many other Democratic and Republican officials including most of the Democratic presidential candidates.

Recently, Delano interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris and members of the President’s Cabinet like Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

Previously, he served the H. John Heinz III College at Carnegie Mellon University as an adjunct professor of Politics & Public Policy from March 1995 till his March 2020 retirement. As a professor, he taught courses in money and politics, public policy commission, legislative guideline-making, media, and public policy. Also, he served the Pittsburgh Business Times as a columnist from February 1995 to June 2019. In this capacity, he wrote the monthly and weekly column, “Government Busters.”

Before the Pittsburgh Business Times, he worked as the Chief Of Staff at Congressman Doug Walgren from July 1977 to January 1991. During that tenure, he served as the president of the House Chiefs of Staff Association, the non-partisan organization that represented the top aides on Capitol Hill from 1985 to 1986.
