Karli VanCleave Biography

Karli VanCleave is an American anchor working for WPTA as a weekend news anchor position she took up in October 2021. She joined WPTA in May 2020, as a multimedia journalist.

Karli VanCleave Education

In 2012, Karli joined North Side High School where she earned a diploma in 2016. Later on, she enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism with minors in Spanish and International Studies in the spring of 2020. In addition, VanCleave also spent a semester abroad in Seville, Spain in the spring of 2019, while she studied journalism and Spanish at CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange.

Karli VanCleave Career

VanCleave works at WPTA as the weekend news anchor. Fort Wayne is her native home and while she attended Indiana University, she served as the executive producer and reporter for IU NewsNet. In addition, she was also the creator of the university’s very first daily newscast known as the IU NewsNet Daily. After spending her summer’s 2018 and 2019, at WPTA as a Quintern she later decided to join the station.

VanCleave interned at WFBH Community Radio in Bloomington, Indonesia, and at Fort Wayne radio station WBOI. Furthermore, she also spent a semester abroad in Seville, Spain in the spring of 2019, while she studied journalism and Spanish. While she was in Spain, she lived with a host family and learned how to report in a new country speaking a different language. Whenever she finds time to spare, she enjoys painting watercolors, listening to music, dancing, and spending time outdoors.
