Kristine Sorensen is an American journalist working for KDKA CBS Pittsburgh as an anchor at 5 p.m. Additionally, she delivers special reports and Kidsburgh stories that feature the positive things in the community for kids and families. She joined the station in 2003 and has served the station for more than 2 decades. Previously, she worked in Dallas, Texas as an anchor and reporter.

Sorensen joined the College of William and Mary in Virginia when she finished her high school education. Later, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Government and a Dance minor. She also worked as an adjunct professor at Point Park University.
As a result of her journalism work, she won a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for Features Reporter for Human Interest Stories for her Kidsburgh reports, including a story on a colorful crossing guard, children in “A Musical Christmas Carol” and a boy with Autism who learned to speak through the help of a specialist speaking device. Moreover, she won an Edward R. Murrow award for reporting and an AP Award for hosting Pittsburgh Today Live which won best news talk show.
Aside from her journalism work, she volunteers in many ways in the community. She was one of the only five people across Paramount in 2022, to win the “Paramount Impact Award” for her community service, in part for the club she and her son started as his middle school to raise money for the children of Ukraine.
Sorensen has served on the Board of Trustees for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre for ten years and has written about dance for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She is an active supporter of the March of Dimes, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and Variety the Children’s Charity. Since she was a child, Sorensen has studied dance and performed with dance companies for 10 years. In 2013, she performed a solo with the Bodiography Contemporary Ballet company’s performance at the Byham Theater.
