Kyle Midura is an American producer working at PBS NewsHour where he serves as a politics producer. He joined PBS NewsHour in February 2022, after previously working at Straight Arrow News where he was a national political correspondent.
Kyle began his professional journalism career at KULR in Montana before joining WCAX. He worked at KULR for two years and while he was there, he covered politics as well as hiking through wildfires and canoeing through flooded communities. In 2005, he joined Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism where he earned a Broadcast journalism degree with majors in History and Political Science in 2009. In addition, he was able to secure a job with the Medill Innocence Project.
Furthermore, arrived in the District of Columbia from the forests of Vermont, where he worked as the Statehouse Bureau Chief for WCAX from September 2011 to September 2017. During his time at WCAX, he covered the state’s failed drive for single-payer health insurance, marijuana legalization’s passage and subsequent gubernatorial veto, and Sen. Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign at every turn. Midura has contributed to CQ Roll Call’s coverage of Vermont politics, and The Washington Post’s “The Fix” blog named him one of the top political writers in the state.
