Laura Moody Biography
Laura Moody is an American news anchor who is working at FOX 13. She serves as the weekday morning news co-anchor of Good Day Tampa Bay alongside Russell Rhodes from 6 to 10 a.m.
Alabama is her native home and she attended Florida State University where she graduated proudly. Previously, she worked at WTVT where she served as the weekend morning and evening anchor for Nashville’s ABC affiliate WKRN. In addition, her journalism career began at SNN which is a New York Times-owned station. Furthermore, she began working at WTVT in 2006 and served as a weekend morning anchor alongside longtime FOX 13 anchor Bill Murphy.
Moody has covered a number of the stories from her wild rides by the brave men and women at MacDill Air Force Base. She was taken 12,000 feet up into the air force for a skydiving adventure by the Special Operations Command’s Parachute Team.
In addition, she was the first female civilian to skydive from a CV-22 Osprey Prior to her ridding with the KC-135 Air Refueling Squadron, and seeing the beautiful Bay Area from a Blackhawk helicopter. She had the honor of riding with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, pushing 7Gs recently, and respects the fighter pilots who fight and defend the country.
She love’s watching the Tampa Bay Lightning play and in 2008 she traveled all the way to snowy Philadelphia to cover the American League Championship Series and the run for the World Series where she stood there in three layers of clothing till the end.
Laura’s favorite stories to cover are our Good Day Grads segments, where she shares the stories of high school seniors about to graduate. On the show, she talks about peer pressure, adversity, and profile standout performers, and loves telling the stories of those who have fought to get their diplomas. She loves playing with the second and third graders in the Kid Wit game where they just sit down and talk. She serves as co-chair of the March for Babies in the March of Dimes.
