Matt Standridge Biography
Matt Standridge is an American meteorologist working for WTHR as the Saturday and Sunday 6/11 p.m. forecaster since joining the station in February 2024. Previously, he worked for KFSM as the chief meteorologist.
Matt Standridge Education
Standridge joined Valparaiso University in 2013 when he finished his education at Centerville Senior High School. In 2017, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Atmospheric Science.

While growing up, Standridge enjoyed overlooking the cornfield by his house and watching the weather. He witnessed as storms raced in, swarms of lightning bugs buzzed in the early summer humidity, and snowstorms covered the cut corn stalks. Thus, he fell in love with all things weather. Every morning, he used to watch WTHR’s forecasts before going to school. Since then, he wanted to be a meteorologist, hopefully at Channel 13.
After graduating college, Standridge worked on a hail research project in North Dakota for the government. There, he learned the most recent in hail forecasting and tracking. After the summer hail season, he joined KFSM in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas where he tracked tornadoes for 7 years.
Four years after joining KFSM, Standridge was promoted to chief meteorologist. In the winter of 2024, TEGNA promoted him to WTHR. He can’t decide between snow and thunderstorms as his favorite type of weather. While snow can be a giant sandbox to build anything, storms can be electrifying. He has a passion for severe weather and tracking storms to protect families and keep them informed.

When he’s free, he enjoys hiking, chasing waterfalls, and going to the lake.
