Angelica Robinson is an American journalist working for WTHR as a reporter since joining the station in August 2023. She previously was a communication adjunct professor at the Indiana Institute of Technology and a freelance project writer and editor at Input Fort Wayne.
Angelica Robinson Education
Robinson joined the University of Cincinnati in 2005 when she finished her high school education. In 2009, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Communication. In 2011, she joined DePaul University in Chicago where she attained her Master’s degree in Journalism. While there, she was an intern at WBEZ, Chicago’s National Public Radio station.

Robinson works for WTHR as a reporter. Upon joining the station, she first worked as a multi-skilled journalist. She brings over a decade of experience in writing, broadcasting, public relations, and public speaking. Before joining the station, she worked at ABC’s 21Alive News in Fort Wayne as an anchor and investigative reporter.
In Fort Wayne, Robinson was instrumental in broadcasting breaking news stories, crime, court reporting, and searching into the stories significant to the community. Also, she concentrated on various topics like city government, health care, and education.
Robinson spearheaded a fight for public records with the city of Fort Wayne. Her efforts prompted the city to change the policy on the issue of police body and dash cam video in 2022. The story also won her a Regional Emmy Award and a first-place award from the Society of Professional Journalists for investigative reporting.
Before 21Alive News, Robinson served Fort Wayne’s CBS affiliate WANE 15 News as the lead investigative reporter. There, she received multiple recognition awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for her investigative reports. Further, she covered Youth and E-Cigarettes in 2019 which earned her a Tobacco Free Allen County Outstanding Reporting Award.
Robinson won a Fort Wayne Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police Award for Outstanding Police Journalism in 2020. She caught the “news bug” when she was young. She would go on news stories with her father who worked in the journalism industry.
Robinson’s father remembers her asking to hold the microphone so she could share what occurred at the scene of breaking news. Out of college, her first TV news job was in Chicago at WGN. There, she worked as a news writer for the station’s morning show. She was later promoted to fill-in producer for WGN’s 24-hour sister network CLTV.
Work Outside Journalism;
Away from journalism, she taught broadcasting, journalism, and communication courses at Indiana Tech University. Robinson also worked as a project editor for Input Fort Wayne’s Voices of Southeast in 2020. There, she spotlighted crucial matters, needs, and development in the Southeast area of Fort Wayne. Further, she worked for the City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division as a public information officer for two years.
Robinson has served as a member of professional firms like the National Association of Black Journalists, the Association of Women Journalists, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the PBS Fort Wayne board. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America.
