Melissa started her journalism career in Corpus Christi where she worked at KZTV-TV where she served as a reporter later on she was promoted to serving as a main anchor.
In addition, she also worked in the Rio Grande Valley at KGBT-TV where she served as the main anchor. Her career took a leap outside the Lone Star State where she worked at KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico as an investigative and consumer reporter.
Furthermore, she is excited to be working at home and is an advocate for missing people. She has a segment called Help Us Find on News 4 San Antonio which assists families and friends find missing people.
In addition, Vega served as the host of Focus on South Texas which is a magazine-style show highlighting the nonprofits and organizations in the community. During her spare time, she enjoys spending ample time with her husband and rescue dogs Neville and Gizmo.
