Mikel Hannah-Harding Biography

Mikel Hannah-Harding is an American journalist who serves as a first alert meteorologist at WRDW, News 12. He has had an intrinsic fascination with weather and its impact on civilization since he was a child.

Mikel Hannah-Harding Career

He grew up watching the Weather Channel like it was his favorite cartoon, and for Christmas, he received telescopes and weather picture books. He’s always known he wanted to be a meteorologist, and he’s thrilled to be able to make that ambition a reality here in the CSRA.

Mikel Hannah-Harding earned a BA in Meteorology and a BA in Physics from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. Mikel had the opportunity to pursue his meteorological interests while at CofC by conducting multiple research studies with Dr. Lee Lindner of the College of Charleston’s Department of Physics and Astronomy on the Climatology and Variability of Tropical Cyclones impacting Wilmington, NC, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Jacksonville, FL, and Cape Canaveral, FL over the past 165 years. He also completed two internships, one with ABC News 4 in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and the other with Live 5 News in West Ashley, SC.

During his tenure at CofC, Mikel became a member of the Tau Eta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., where he served as Vice-President for one year and President for two years. As a member of the “Mentoring Matters” program, Student Ambassadors, the College of Charleston Gospel Choir, and the REACH Mentorship Program, he was also involved on campus.
