Nancy Cox Biography
Nancy Cox is an American four-time Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter working at LEX 18 where she serves as the evening anchor at 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 pm. She joined the LEX 18 team in July 1992, after previously working at WKYT-TV.
Cox began working at WKYT-TV as a producer and reporter before she decided to join WLEX-TV as an anchor and reporter in 1992. She has served as a journalist for over 30 years and during this time, she has been honored with; 7 Regional Emmy Awards, the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award, and many Kentucky Associated Press Awards inclusive of the Best Anchor honors. Cox serves on the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Ohio Valley Region as the President.
In addition, she has numerous memorable moments in her outstanding career including covering an exclusive one-on-one interview with Hillary Clinton during her Presidential campaign, covering President Barack Obama’s first inauguration, 20 Kentucky Derbies, the NTSB hearings on the crash of Comair Flight 5191, a number of Final Fours and NCAA Basketball Championships, and a one-on-one interview with legendary UK announcer Cawood Ledford.
She attended Western Kentucky University where she graduated summa cum laude. In 1990, she took part in the Miss America Pageant where she represented her beloved home state as Miss Kentucky. Nancy also served on the boards of Kentucky Junior Miss and Miss Kentucky and she is an n in-demand singer and speaker for charity organizations and church. Furthermore, she has made many appearances including hosting every annual fundraiser since its inception for the American Heart Association, Habitat for Humanity, and Race for the Cure.
