After completing her studies there, she graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree. Working for “CBS Sunday Morning” covering pop culture, news, the arts, and celebrity interviews including actor Michael Douglas, rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent, radio host Howard Stern, and pop star Kelly Clarkson.

In addition to that, she reported such diverse topics as medical breakthroughs in couples choosing to go childless, efforts to control the mosquito population, and treating pediatric cancer. She also reported a groundbreaking and critically-praised broadcast on the topic of bullying, one on surviving sexual abuse, and another on dating violence at “48 Hours.” Smith was part of the team that won an Emmy for “Caught,” the “48 Hours” broadcast about the Boston Marathon bombing.

Prior to working for Channel One News, she worked for KERO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Bakersfield, California as a part-time reporter.
