Norcross graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Math and a Master of Science in Communications and Meteorology. Bryan also received an honorary doctorate in public service from Florida International University.

Norcross serves as a hurricane specialist at FOX Weather in Miami, Florida, USA. He is also the author of his own book called My Hurricane Andrew Story. He previously worked for WPLG(Local 10 News) where he served as a hurricane specialist from 2018 to 2022 in Miami. Prior to his tenure at WPLG, he worked for the Weather Channel where he served as a senior hurricane specialist from 2010 to 2017.

From 2006 to 2011, he worked at America’s Emergency Network where he was the founder and president where he distributed emergency communications from government emergency centers and other organizations to the public and the media. Prior to that, he worked for CBS News where he served as a hurricane analyst from 1996 to 2008. From 1996 to 2008, he worked for CBS-TV (WFOR) in Miami where he served as a hurricane analyst. He previously worked for WFOR-TV/CBS4 where he served as a director of meteorology from 1996 to 2008.

Norcross also spent about 5 years working at WTVJ where he served as a chief meteorologist from 1990 to 1995. From 1983 to 1989, he worked for WPLG where he served as a meteorologist. Bryan rose to national prominence after guiding South Florida through Hurricane Andrew in 1992. From 1996 to 2008, he was CBS News’ in-house hurricane analyst in New York, and he anchored WFOR in Miami’s coverage of numerous hurricanes. Prior to that, he worked for WTVJ and on NBC News programs from New York, including “Today.”

Norcross received the 1993 David Brinkley Award for Excellence in Communication in recognition of his efforts prior to, during, and after Hurricane Andrew. Bryan Norcross Days have also been designated in Miami, Miami Beach, and Fort Lauderdale, among other cities. In addition, he has received an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Chapter, as well as the DuPont and Peabody awards, the highest awards given in broadcasting in the United States.
