Jim Kiertzner is a well-reputed American Emmy Award-winning Retired Investigative Reporter who worked for WXYZ-TV. He worked for WXYZ-TV from his joining in 1983 until his retirement in September 2022.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for WXYZ-TV as an Investigative Reporter. He joined WXYZ-TV in 1983 and worked there until his retirement in September 2022. This was after working at the station for 49 years. Prior to working at WXYZ-TV, he worked for four years at WDIV-TV. Before coming to Detroit, he worked in Saginaw both at WNEM-TV and WSMH-TV. He came to Michigan after working in Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. In mid-Michigan, his work helped lead to the ouster of a mayor, helped free a young man wrongfully convicted of a crime, and helped change Michigan law regarding background checks of medical doctors who come to Michigan.
Because of his exemplarity in his investigative work, he has won 5 Emmys, numerous AP, UPI, and Michigan Association on Broadcasters awards over the years, and an Edward R Murrow Award for his continuous live reporting on the Wayne Michigan furniture store explosion in 2010. Moreover, he has been inducted into the Silver Circle of the Michigan Chapter of NATAS, The National Association of Television Arts and Sciences, and The Emmys, signifying at least 25 years of honorable work in the television industry. The then Channel 7 News Director Tim Dye nominated Jim for this honor.
