Jim Siebert Biography

Jim Siebert is an American former meteorologist working with WeatherNation as Vice President of Weather Operations since March 2022. Also, he serves as a weather and environmental consulting services and provides consulting services for legal cases, projects, and risk management dealing with past and present weather.

Jim has a degree in Meteorology/Earth Science from Baylor University in Waco, Communications from Brigham Young University, and Science Education from New Mexico University. He teaches at the university level both meteorology and geography.

He worked for the station from March 2007 to March 2022 when he left the station. He also produced a series of children’s books and is also the co-founder of Dynamic Measurement, LLC in October 2008 in Houston, Texas. Jim has conducted studies and shared the results of his study at national conferences. One area of focus for Jim’s study has been the introduction of emerging graphics technology for broadcast meteorology.

Jim started his broadcasting career in Texas, working for the Corpus Christi and Waco television stations. Jim has worked at stations in New Mexico and Nevada where he was awarded the Associated Press and Electronic Media Awards for Best Weathercaster. More recently, he was Director of Meteorological Activities at the Weather Consulting Firm in Houston.

Jim developed a series of children’s books that teach meteorological principles through stories and make children the main characters in the story. Dr. Jim owns the AMS Accredited Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal and his HAM radio license that he uses for storm hunting.
