Allan serves at WTMJ-TV as a sports anchor. He kept a running tally of sports statistics and fascinating things in a notepad. That didn’t stop him from playing everything from baseball to kickball in the neighborhood. When Lance was in high school, one of his classes urged students to think about a vocation they would like to pursue.
His interest in sports broadcasting seemed to come effortlessly to him at a young age. Lance got a job at WJMC, Rice Lake’s local radio station when he was still in high school. He took care of the tiny tasks that any teenager would be expected to handle, which pleased Lance. He was receiving his first taste of broadcasting and thoroughly enjoying it.
Lance transitioned completely into sports in May 1994, where he stayed for a year until taking a job as a weekend sports anchor at Green Bay’s WFRV-TV. For one thing, he figured out how much he enjoyed athletics and decided that would be my focus.
Working as a news reporter taught me how to be thorough, and being in the weather taught me how to improvise. Allan learned about an opening in the TMJ4’s sports department after a little more than a year at WFRV. The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association recognized him as Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year in 2012 and 2005.
