Shannon Sims Biography
Shannon Sims is an American anchor and reporter working at TMJ4 where she served as the co-anchor of the weekday evening newscast at 4, 6, and 10 pm. She joined the TMJ4 team in April 2013, after previously working at Raycom Media.

In 1991, she graduated from Holy Names High School. Later on, she joined the Manhattan School of Music where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree, Classical Vocal performance. She has also studied at Howard University where she studied Vocal Performance and African-American Studies.

Sims works at TMJ4 where she served as the co-anchor of the weekday evening newscast at 4, 6, and 10 pm. Prior to being a broadcast journalist, she was a classically trained singer who aspired to be an opera performer. After her studies, she relocated to Bloomington, Indiana where she started her broadcast career at 92.3 WTTS where she served as a radio announcer.
Later on, she relocated to the Bay Area where she pursued a career in television and radio. In addition, while she was in San Francisco, she interned at KGO 7, and not long after, she was hired as a production assistant. Later on, she secured a job at KREM 2 Spokane, Washington State where she served as a general assignment reporter. Furthermore, while she was in the Northwest, she covered snow, snow, and more snow.
Shannon grew as a journalist after her exclusive and breaking developments in the disappearance of Dylan Groene and Shasta which later led to the capture of sex offender and kidnapper Joseph Duncan. Later on, she worked at WKEF in Dayton, Ohio, WVEC in Norfolk, and FOX19 in Cincinnati where she worked with the morning team.
Over the years, she has been actively involved in the community and her biggest achievement was raising money to outfit the 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade classes at the Dayton Boys Academy with new ties. She also brought a group of professional men to the school who spend time with each child and develop a bond that would last an eternity.
In addition, she was also an active member of the Dayton chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. Sims also enjoys learning more about Brew City and beyond, and working in the Milwaukee community. During her leisure time, she enjoys salsa dancing, exploring new places, watching foreign movies, antique shopping, listening to opera and jazz
