Shara Taylor Biography

Shara Taylor is an American anchor who is working at FOX61. She joined the FOX 61 news team in January 2021 and brings a diverse education and experience in television journalism.

Shara Taylor Career

In 2013, she received a master’s degree in journalism from New York University. While she was at the university, she was trained as a Multimedia Journalist in the Reporting New York program. Through her coursework and internship experience, she developed skills in writing, anchoring, videography, video editing, reporting, and photography.

While pursuing her degree she earned invaluable experiences as an intern in a number of newsrooms across New York City where she had responsibilities assisting in the newsroom and assisting experienced reporters in the field with research, notes, interviewing, logging, shot adjustments, and editing. Furthermore, she was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to intern at NBC Universal with Politics Nation at MSNBC and the WNBC Sports department.

After she had graduated, she produced freelance news stories on sports topics like NFL players’ career transitions, and the New York Liberty, and published a video news package for the New York Daily News. Furthermore, when an opportunity popped up at vents and radio she volunteered as a freelance guest host.

Later on, she worked in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Wyoming where she served as a general assignment television news reporter. In addition, in 2014, she was nominated for a Wyoming Association of Broadcast Best News Reporter award.

In addition to covering breaking news, she covered topics such as; environmental issues, cultural and religious community events, city government, legislation, health, crime, and sports. Prior to her experience working in digital and print. From 2018 and 2020, she covered sports for the New York Beacon.

Furthermore, she has volunteered with voter registration, community churches, and a group mentoring and encouraging teens called Keeping Family and Communities Together (KFACT). In addition, she attended Hampton University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology, and later joined Old Dominion University where she received a master’s degree in Sport Management.

She has utilized her sports management degree through employment with the Miami Heat and the Miami Dolphins. Furthermore, she has also worked with the New York City government, and with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
