Amanda Raus is an American anchor who is working at FOX 61. She serves as the 5 and 11 p.m. news anchor at FOX 61.
Raus works for FOX 61 News serving the station as an Evening Anchor. Connecticut is her native home. Previously, she resided in West Hartford where she worked at WVIT, the NBC affiliate for eight years and while she was in the station, she served as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter.
In addition, while she was in the station, she covered several major stories such as covering the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School and braving the elements during Superstorm Sandy which she covered for almost fourteen years, Tropical Storm Irene, and the blizzard of 2013.
For her coverage of the Joshua Komisarjevsky trial, she won a Connecticut Associated Press Award and was nominated for an Emmy award. Furthermore, she has also worked at WSHM in Springfield, Miami where she served as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. In addition, her journalism career began at News 12 Connecticut where she served as a freelance reporter and associate producer.
She attended Quinnipiac University in Hamden where she graduated with a Master of Business Administration before her also attending Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where she received a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism.
In addition, she was brought up in Monroe and attended Masuk High School where she graduated proudly. During her leisure time, she enjoys visiting the shoreline during the summer, exploring all that our state has to offer, and taking in all the gorgeous foliage in the fall.
