David Williams Biography
David Williams is an American journalist who serves as a weekend evening meteorologist at WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 in Needham Heights, Massachusetts, United States.
Williams’s fascination with weather began at a young age. Growing up in Queens, New York, he was excited by the winter weather and thunderstorms. He has worked in Amarillo, TX, and Richmond, Virginia.

Williams attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from 2014 to 2018. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology with a minor in theater.

Williams began his career in January 2020 at KAMR-TV in Amarillo, Texas as the weekend meteorologist and multi-media reporter. After a while, he was promoted to full-time meteorologist at WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia.
Williams joined WCVB’s StormTeam 5 as a meteorologist for NewsCenter 5’s weekend evening newscasts on August 20, 2022. He replaced Mike Wankum who was promoted to StormTeam 5’s weeknight meteorologist. Williams joined NewsCenter 5 weekend evening anchors Nathalie Pozo and Shaun Chaiyabhat.
Joining the team, Williams stated, “I am honored to join this exceptional team of meteorologists at a station I’ve long admired for its outstanding journalism and excellent weather reporting,” said Williams. “I am very excited to share my passion for weather with WCVB viewers and to call Boston my home. As a lover of cold weather and an avid sports fan, the New England area couldn’t be a more perfect fit.”
