Cindy Williams is an American anchor and reporter who was working at NEWS CENTER Maine, Portland. Williams joined the station in 1989 where she co-anchored the Noon, 5:30, and 6 p.m. newscasts.
Cindy Williams Career
Since 1989, Williams has co-anchors 5 and 6 alongside Pat Callaghan and 5:30 alongside Rob Caldwell. She also rotates with other station personnel as an anchor of the statewide 12-noon weekday newscast.
Williams has lived in Maine for a long time to an extent making it her real home though she does not originate there. She is a proud graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1985 she attained her degree in Television, Radio, and Film from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Prior to joining NEWS CENTER Maine and settling down, Williams has worked in stations in Mississippi. She was an anchor of News Seven and the 10 o’clock news on the NBC affiliate in Laurel and Hattiesburg, Mississippi of WDAM-TV.
She has won several awards from the Associated Press and the Maine Association of Broadcasters for her anchoring and reporting.
Williams held the Miss Mississippi USA in 1986 title and placed the third runner-up in the 1986 Miss USA pageant, alongside other runner-ups Halle Berry and Kelly Parsons. She was also a semi-finalist in the 1986 Miss International contest. Williams remained involved with pageantry, hosting the 1996 Miss Maine pageant.
